The dyes are excitable with a 405 or 650 nm diode laser. The charges of these dyes were adjusted in order for them not to influence the mobility of the labeled proteins. Each kit contains exactly equal amounts of dye NHS-esters. This ensures equal labeling levels for different samples. The gels can be read out on any instrument with 405/650 nm diode lasers and a Fluorescein and Cy5 (690 ± 50 nm) filter set or the VersaDoc MP Imaging Systems from Bio-Rad using the Trans UV excitation option.
