A highly sensitive and selective probe for Vancomycin based on Seta-640 (K8-1662)

In the absence of Vancomycin, the close proximity and efficient electron-transfer from Seta-640 (K8-1662) to anthraquinone causes significant fluorescence quenching of the dye (“off”-state). When Vancomycin is added, it binds with high affinity in a 2:1 ratio to the -d-Ala-d-Ala ligands, resulting in a 30 times increase in fluorescence intensity (“on”-state).
